Crash Bandicoot theory: Crash's origins explained

I've played Crash Bandicoot since I was 5 years old. I remember when I first played it and thought he was a fox. Perhaps I wasn't aware of Bandicoots back then.

But I have a question. Why we only know about Crash and Coco? Where are their parents and siblings and why they live with a floating, talking mask? Let's exploit the francise to the maxinum and find the hidden family members.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I love family theories. With some deep thoughts, maybe get an explenation for a lot of things. If we also manage to connect everything toghether, very mindblowning theories might become a thing. Now, back in bussiness. Have you ever wondered who are Crash's and Coco's parents? We might not know, but we can make theories. The only parent references I found so far in the games are two: The first one in Crash Tag Team Racing ("I'm telling mom... If we had one.") and the second one in Mind Over Mutant ("I'm telling mom... Who is she anyway?"), all spoken by Coco, indicating that she never knew her mother. Aku Aku is NOT their biological father, because he is a human (Yes, that's right, he is not just a anthropomorphic mask, if you look at Bandipedia, a Crash version of Wikipedia, you might find out that Aku Aku used to be a witch doctor in ancient times and was reincarnated to a mask after his death.), while Crash and Coco are bandicoots. He is more of a father figure.
But, if we ask how many bandicoots exist in the universe? A LOT.

Before we continue, let's see the Bandicoot family traits:
Hmmm....

1. Orange fur
2. Brown or blonde hair
3. Green eyes

Let's see if any of these features are present on any of the other characters. This would be a long, though not hard journey, at least if you have played every single game (I saddly haven't, but I have watched walkthroughs on YouTube.)

Remember this guy?

This, ladies and gentlemen, is a doppelganger of Crash, named Fake Crash. Saddly, his origin is completely unknown, like why he looks so much like Crash, which is his real name, why he even exists?

Surprisingly, he looks nearly identical to the bandicoots, especially to Crash? Why? Well, what if I told you, Fake Crash, is Crash's and Coco's brother?

M I N D B L O W N

He has all the bandicoot traits, orange fur, brown hair, and (though not easily noticeable), green eyes. We sadly don't know if he is older or younger from the main bandicoots, he might also be Crash's twin.

As for Crunch, he looks litterally nothing like the other bandicoots, he is tall, brown and has different facial features (blue eyes, etc.).

We won't count Carbon Crash, 10th Dimention Crash, etc. They're not actually related to Crash and Coco in any possible way.

Now, we have all known brothers. What about the mother? The woman that always bothered Coco since the franchise was created.

At first, we have to take Tawna out of our mind. Although she has some traits similar to Crash and Coco, she can't be their mother, she is Crash's girlfriend, and this is officially confirmed.

Luckily, the Crash Tean Racing game blessed us with a set of new female bandicoots. Ladies and gentlement, we proudly present the Trophy Girls.

(Sorry for the bad quality, but this is the best picture of all the Trophy Girls available.)

I think it's time to reveal the question that bothered all of us (but most notably Coco)

And the mother is...

ISABELLA!!!!

I'm sorry, but this is the closest possible relative to Crash and Coco. She has Coco's blonde hair and round head. The only different so far is the cream fur (Which might also be a result of makeup, In fact her fur is orange in OG CTR) and the blue eyes.

As for the father? Sorry, but we don't have any known bandicoot which has a resemblance to Crash and Coco. Maybe a future tilte will have a character which might be more similar to Crash and Coco. Most certainly, he would have brown hair, an orange fur and green eyes. But at least we discovered their mother.

This is my best. My theory is officially finished… for now. Now, here's the timeline.

Pre-history:

  1. Mr. Bandicoot and Isabella are met.
  2. They have three baby bandicoots, Crash, Coco and Fake Crash.
  3. Isabella abandons the family shortly after Coco's birth, and Mr. Bandicoot takes their custody.
  4. Crash and Fake Crash grow to teenagers, while the younger sister, Coco, becomes a tween. (Fun fact: Actual bandicoots can live up to 3 years)
  5. Dr. Neo Cortex and Dr. Nitrus Brio step on the Wumba Islands and capture Crash, Fake Crash and Coco, as well as a few other bandicoots (Most notably Tawna, and likely Isabella, too, as well as the other Trophy Girls.)
1st Game:

  1. Cortex and Brio put the bandicoots on the Evolvo-Ray and turn them anthoropomorphic.
  2. They manage to make them evil with the Cortex Vortex, starting with Crash, but they fail
  3. Crash escapes.
  4. Cortex and Brio try to continue, starting with Tawna
  5. Crash starts a quest to save the rest of the bandicoots, freeing Aku Aku, a friendly tribal mask in the progress
  6. Aku Aku becomes Crash's protector.
  7. Crash saves the Bandicoots and defeats Cortex
  8. Aku Aku adopts Crash and Coco.
  9. ...And the rest is history.
Note that I'm currently on vacation, but you might expect a family tree once I return. Stay tuned.

Update 10/9/20 and here's the family tree, as I promised. I've also came across a new character from Crash 4 called Fake Coco, which can be a fourth child.

So, the updated timeline goes like this.

Pre-history:

  1. Mr. Bandicoot and Isabella are met.
  2. They have four baby bandicoots, Crash, Coco, Fake Coco and Fake Crash.
  3. Isabella abandons the family shortly after the youngest child's birth and Mr. Bandicoot takes their custody.
  4. Crash and Fake Crash grow to teenagers, while the younger sisters, Coco and Fake Coco, become a tween.
  5. Dr. Neo Cortex and Dr. Nitrus Brio step on the Wumba Islands and capture Crash, Fake Crash, Fake Coco and Coco, as well as a few other bandicoots (Most notably Tawna, and likely Isabella, too, as well as the other Trophy Girls.)
